About Santa Don - Liberty Santa

Santa Don first portrayed Santa Claus in 1991 and became annually active in 2011. A real bearded Santa in the Kansas City metropolitan area, Santa Don has earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Santa Clausology from the International University of Santa Claus along with specialized training in portrait studio and special events work. Santa holds membership in both the Red Suit Society and the International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santas. He has received additional training at the Jim Yellig Santa Claus Workshop in Santa Claus, Indiana where he was blessed with the manna of the true Saint Nicholas.

Santa Don has portrayed Santa Claus at events ranging from corporate events to home visits.

Always looking for exciting opportunities to spread Christmas cheer, Santa Don is available for creative programming ideas including concert conducting or narrating, parades, civic events, Christmas tree lighting ceremonies, and any chance to keep the magic of the season alive for all who still believe.

Santa Don is fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (including the new 2024 booster) and influenza. He changes gloves between appearances and treats his special Christmas suit with antibacterial fabric spray. With safety and respect in mind, mask preferences are left up to each client. Santa's background check is available upon request.

Away from the North Pole, Santa Don is a retired music educator having taught Band in the public schools of Missouri and Kansas for 32 years. He currently serves the music community as an Educational Representative for Meyer Music. Santa and his wife make their home in Liberty, Missouri.

Santa Claus Oath

I will seek knowledge to be well versed in the mysteries of bringing Christmas cheer and good will to all the people that I encounter in my journeys and travels.

I shall be dedicated to hearing the secret dreams of both children and adults.

I understand that the true and only gift I can give, as Santa, is myself.

I acknowledge that some of the requests I will hear will be difficult and sad.

I know in these difficulties there lies an opportunity to bring a spirit of warmth, understanding and compassion.

I know the “real reason for the season” and know that I am blessed to be able to be a part of it.

I realize that I belong to a brotherhood and will be supportive, honest, and show fellowship to my peers.

I promise to use “my” powers to create happiness, spread love and make fantasies come to life in the true and sincere tradition of the Santa Claus Legend.

I pledge myself to these principles as a descendant of Saint Nicholas the gift giver of Myra.

Santa Don has helped Moments & Memories Photography bring the magic of Christmas to life for hundreds of children and families over the last 6 years. He takes his job of being Santa very seriously and goes above and beyond to make it extra special for the children. Santa Don takes time to research the hot toys of the year, so he can have a connected discussion with the kids when they make their requests. He also spends countless hours practicing various facial expressions in the mirror for when the need arises.

Here at Moments & Memories photography, it is so much more than “sit and smile.” We engage the kids in activities with Santa and he is always on point with the perfect expressions! What we all love the most about Santa Don is his ability to “go with the flow” when we have unique requests. From 4-day old babies, to special needs kids, to ornery teenagers, he nails it very time! Every year I’m flooded with emails from clients with their overwhelming love for our Santa Don.

From taking special requests of “dabbing” to killing it at a “dance off.” You will never find a more professional, hard working Santa as our very special Santa Don. We will cherish our time with him for years to come and we are so incredibly grateful for all the years of smiles and laughter. Even as an adult, Santa Don brings the magic to life.
